My Independent Study Project

The College of Wooster (C.O.W.) is known for it's undergraduate mentored research, specifically in the form of Independent study or I.S. Every year C.O.W. seniors complete their own I.S., a year-long research project of a topic of their choosing. I.S. is meant to represent the culmination of the student's four-year academic journey, showcasing each student's independent skills they have fostered. When students submit their I.S. they receive a sweet treat for all their hard work, a tootsie roll! Impressively, all students submit their I.S. before or on I.S. Monday. Thus making it a day of celebration.

Attended Emma's and Alix's I.S. submissions!

Scroll through for a glimpse into I.S. Monday and my own submission (I submitted with Wooster bestie Lucy)!

My own I.S. was a passion project and is my greatest accomplishment in my life thus far. Inspired by my Social Justice Fellowship at a local free-meal site, my I.S. combined ethnographic and biological research to acquire a comprehension of the factors leading to food injustice, inadequate nutrition, and consequential maladies.

I applied my newfound comprehension of these social and biological factors by creating a 15 minute "Bill-Nye"-esque video which you can view below.

Enjoyed this post? Let me know by commenting what you would decide to research if you had the opportunity to do a deep-dive of any topic of your choice! As always, stay curious. ~Bri
