Must do hikes Acadia National Park

Day one: Sargent

Our adventure begins with one of the most strenuous but rewarding hikes in all of Acadia NP! My favorite thing about the hike was all the "rock climbing" sections. It was a blast diving straight into a new kind of hiking terrain of steep rocks! The views were also BREATHTAKING. I think we ended up doing a solid 6 miles in 4 hours and I couldn't help but crave more. What a great welcome to Acadia and what it can offer!

The views:

*Yes, the scenary remained relatively consistent throughout the hike. But gosh was it gorgeous!

Conquests and boybands:

*The first day also marked the first of our silly 'boyband' photos by each peak.

Extra fun:

Ending our hike by and then in water. P.S. there was a watering hole but it was very crowded so we decided to cool off in the pool instead. Sadly I lost to Alix in the jumping contest (he had a way more creative jump lol) but I obliterated him in handstands and breathholding 💪😎

Now that you have seen a GLIMPSE of what Acadia can offer, come with me to day two. My favorite of the hikes!

Day ✌️: Dorr to Cadillac and beyond!🚀

On our "Maine must do list" this was Alix's number one pick. His favorite hike quickly became mine, however for slightly different reasons. Dorr is Alix's favorite for the challenge. And while I did love the challenge of what I like to call "Nature's Ultimate Stairmaster" what I loved the most about this day was all the different terrain! I truly felt like I was on Nature's playground as I "flew" down hopping rock to rock from Cadillac. Or like a true adventurer and athlete as I scrambled up the Stairmaster (Dorr) and the steep slopes to Cadillac. Then there was a fun forestry hike which led us to a photogenic Barred owl! To return to our car we took a breathtaking beach crawl along a lake spotting giant tadpoles along the way. I even got in on the family tradition of climbing onto the lakes rock. I have to say this was by far a 11/10 sort of day!

The views:

*The scenic landscapes were different but apparently I only took photos at Cadillac and Dorr lol.

The Conquests:

*The dissapointment of Cadillac's peak sign (the foot photo) was real lol.

The bird!!

Just look at him move and groove!

THE ROCK!!!

Day 3: Beehive and Acadia

Today was Syd's and Eli's last day with us (because Eli scored a job at the museum, congrats Eli)! So they chose Beehive and Acadia and Flying to be our hikes of the day. I was super excited because yesterday, on the ladder of Dorr a fellow hiker overheard me say "my favorite parts are the parts where you look down and think...I could die here" and the guy goes "You'll love Beehive then". And love it I did. However, if I'm being honest Dorr gave me more thrill minus being 'touristry'. Overall, though both Acadia and the Beehive had fun obstacles to scramble over with Beehive having some man-made obstacles and Acadia being very "naturale" and rock climby (lots of butt scoot action on the way down lol). Unfortunately, we didn't make it to flying because of the rain but Alix and I had a cute sidequest adventure (where we fought and made up like typical us) and it was a very fun hike day.

Day 4: Shipwreck and Jordans Pond

After some rigorous hiking it was due time for a 'rest' day!

Alix and I started off our day by strolling into town to try Riley's fave muffin. Being a muffin fiend I generously offered Alix a mere 5th of my muffin lol. We also made a pit stop to the wine and cheese store for our chacuterie and duck sausage board.

Chacuterie chefs assemble!

Then it was time to explore ship wreck, aka ship harbor trail! Time was spent chatting, and participating in family fun competitions like skipping rocks, building the tallest cairns, and crab searching. Extra time was spent chatting as we took an additional hike to the trailhead along the storm damaged road lol. Overall this trail was beautiful and very family friendly.

Jordans pond was our next hike and man did this long awaited hike not disappoint! Despite being a relatively easy trail there was fun elements like planks and some minimal flat rock scrambles. We were even lucky enough to go around sunset for some extra astonishing views. The most unique thing was a new perspective of the lake which we viewed from Sargent merely a few days ago.

CHEERZ!

I said that I wanted to see a porcupine and I manifested a porcupine!!!🤯🦔

Day 5: The grand finale

There's only uno way to describe our final hike day and that is-EPIC! We started off our morning with a G.O.A.T.E.D. hike up GOAT mountain. This hike was very appropriately named as I felt like a little mountain goat scrambling up this mountain.

Then Riley drove Alix, Gerri, and I to the trail head of Champlain mountain. This was such a 'fill my cup hike' it had a beautiful curvy 'Nature stair master' with open scenic views of the land below. Curving up the side of the mountain the trail was unique in that you could see where you started. We sunbathed to languish in the sun and absorb our conquest. Then it was running down hill in a race against the clock to make it down before Riley arrived. We felt like trail runners (and bonus we saw actual trail runners) and it was so fun! We only stopped to breath in some views of the 'sink' and we made it back two minutes ahead of time. Which ended up being like 30 minutes ahead of time so me and Alix went on a little side-quest adventure walk along beehive's coast.

We ended the day at Flying. Story has it, this is the Hike Alix and his fam would always do when they first arrived even if they didn't yet have hiking shoes. This family friendly hike still had fun challenges and when we ran some of it I truly felt like I was 'flying' too.

Bonus Fun Photo Gallery

This vacation log of a blog simply wouldnt be complete without sharing the goofiness that was had by these 'stud puffins' exploring Bar Harbor shops, the library and Cabelas!

Not pictured was the super cool used bookstore where I got my "Children of Blood and Bone" book AND finished it 🤓💪😤 We also had fun in the house lounging in the massage chair, playing skippo and cards against humanity, and FINALLY watching Ghibli's Boy and the Blue Heron.

Final thoughts:

This was the BEST TRIP EVER (even though I say that about every trip lol). But in all seriousness this was an exhilarating, tasteful, and scenic trip. All my gratitude to my second family for making my first trip to Acadia unforgettable, I cannot wait to venture back 🧭🥾🫶

I hope you enjoyed this blog and were inspired to visit this beautiful NP! Let me know which of Acadia's hikes are on your bucketlist by clicking on each hike you'd like to try! As always, stay curious. ~Bri
