Dill with it- The most unique Deli in North Wales

Got yourself in a pickle about where to eat? Don't worry I got the i'dill' place for you! For the love of pickles, you must check out Pumpernicks Deli in North Wales!

Staff were so friendly and quick to find us a wheelchair accessible table! We ordered our drinks, then it was off to the picklebar for round 1!

Bri's Nana and Grandpop are shown at a restaurant table with menus in hand.
Nana and Grandpop were so excited to show me Pumpernicks, espescially their picklebar!

So without further ado, please relish as I present to you, THE GLORIOUS, THE SPECTACULAR, THE 'DILL'-LIGHTFUL, PICKLEBAR!!!

For pickle-feens like my grandparents and I, a complimentary pickle-bar is a BIG 'dill'🥒😎

The pickle-bar was frequently being replenished of: Classic Kosher dill pickles both whole and chips, whole half-sours, cucumber salad, pickled tomatoes, sauerkraut, homemade sweet cabbage slaw, and pickled peppers.

The review: 9.8/10 ⭐s

Never had cucumber salad before and it's amazing! Fresh, crisp, and slightly sweet.

Half-sours were meh.

Their kosher pickles were not my favorite of kosher dills I have had, but at least chips were a good thickness for a good crunch.

The homemade sweet cabbage or as my Nana calls it 'health slaw' was good in it was light and not overpowering.

By far the the most 'dill'-licious item at the bar were the pickled peppers! So sweet and yummy!

Overall this bar is a 'Dill'-ight! Greatest downside was I couldn't bring myself to look at, much less try the pickled-tomatoes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

For the main grub, we started off with the Jumbo potato latkes.

Two potato pancakes over shredded lettuce served with a container of sour cream and applesauce.

7.7/10 ⭐s

So warm! I didn't expect the applesauce, but liked the combo. The latke had a texture of a condensed hashbrown, could use extra seasoning.

Since Pumpernicks is a Jewish deli, I decided to go with a Reuben!

I got mine stacked (waiter's recommendation), with corned beef (most typical of Reubens). And because we are at a place called Pumpernicks I decided to try it on pumpernickle bread!

Legendary Reuben- 7/10⭐s

Lesson 1- less is more when it comes to Reubens. In the past I liked how gooey and warm Reubens are. This Reuben lacked optimal proportions. Corned beef is a drier meat and there was way too much of it to the cheese, sauerkraut, and dressing ratio.

Lesson 2- Reubens are on rye for a reason. Traditional rye bread is more flavorful than pumpernickle bread. I kept trying to identify the flavor of this bread, but it was so dull, maybe slightly sweet?

The full order between Bri and her grandparents. So much food!
The feast! My grandpop ordered breakfast. My nana ordered "breakfast and lunch" by getting a Monte Cristo. She let me try a bite and I liked the french toast and I liked the ham and cheese but NOT together. I can fairly say Monte Cristos are not for me.

I had such a fun time at Puckernicks with Nana and Grandpop! The picklebar was definitely the star of this restaurant. We even got a box of pickled veggies to go! Afterwards we had quality time laughing at Tim Conway skits and watching the 1967 musical Camelot. Thank you for a wonderful fare-well celebration before I set off on my next adventure!
